Thoughts and Memories

Night after night, Shani and her family waited for Chaka to return. Shani couldn't stand to see her mother and father so unhappy, so she took to the grasslands to think and sometimes, cry. She missed her brother. He was the reason she'd come home, after living with their cousin for such a long time.
She tried to picture him with more of a mane, but her mind always went back to memories of them playing, back when he hardly had any mane at all. He was always so timid, to all his surroundings. She remembered him calling her brave one time..."hah..." she let out a small laugh, and then her weak smile faded to sadness again.
"Oh Chaka," she wondered outloud. "Where are you?"
